Skoda Enyaq iV

Overview

The Skoda Enyaq iV, is Skoda's first all-electric SUV, and we've been lucky enough to take it for a spin around the scenic landscapes of Ireland. Combining practicality with a hint of luxury and a distinctively sporty exterior, the Enyaq is making a mark in the electric vehicle market. Here’s our firsthand experience with this all-electric SUV.
Pros
  • Spacious and Comfortable Interior
  • Smooth and Stable Ride
  • Impressive Range and Efficiency
  • Safety Features
Cons
  • Long Charging Times at Home
  • Infotainment System Quirks

Exterior

The Enyaq's exterior is a fine blend of sophistication and modernity. Its sleek lines and bold stance make it stand out on Irish roads. The Moon White metallic paint on our test model looked stunning, albeit a bit prone to showing dirt from our often unpredictable weather. Overall, it’s a head-turner with a practical edge. It must be noted that there is a large range of colours to choose from, so you’re in no way restricted to a Moon White exterior.

Interior

Step inside, and you're greeted with a spacious and premium-feeling cabin. Our test vehicle featured the Suite Design Selection, boasting leather seats and a faux leather dashboard with refined stitching. The comfort seat package was a highlight, especially on longer drives, providing excellent support and cushioning. Despite rigorous testing, the interior remains pristine and hard-wearing. The seats are comfortable and passengers are met with convenient features, such as cup holders, USB-C charging ports and spacious leg room.

Performance

Behind the wheel, the Enyaq delivers a quiet, smooth and comfortable drive. While it’s not a sports car, it excels in everyday practicality. The steering is responsive and well-weighted, making it easy to navigate through both city streets and winding country roads. The regenerative braking system is particularly impressive, allowing for a seamless one-pedal driving experience in most scenarios. We were particularly impressed with the ride quality of the Skoda Enyaq and cant really fault it. It’s truly a comfortable and practical family SUV.

Reliability

Although we didn't have the Enyaq for an extended period, our intensive test drives showed it to be a reliable companion. The build quality is solid, and everything from the infotainment system to the driving dynamics felt robust and well-engineered. Any minor quirks, such as the infotainment system needing an occasional reset, were easily managed. This is a sturdy, well-engineered SUV, which will definitely withstand the vigorous movements and usability which accompanies family road trips and every-day driving.

Running Costs

One of the standout features of the Enyaq is its efficiency. During our test drives, we found that it comfortably offered a range that would suit most daily commutes and weekend getaways. Charging it at home is cost-effective, though it takes around nine hours for a full charge. Opting for the heat pump can help maintain range during colder months, which is quite handy given our Irish weather.
